Stihl MS 500i

The STIHL MS 500i petrol chainsaw is ideally suited for forestry work. Thanks to its strong performance and excellent handling, it can be used efficiently, especially for processing large timber. Thanks to its lightweight design and dynamic swivelling behaviour, this optimally guided chainsaw excels not only in felling and cutting to length, but also in limbing.

The MS 500i is the world's first chainsaw with electronically controlled injection. The innovative injection technology STIHL Injection ensures optimum engine performance and excellent starting behaviour regardless of altitude and ambient temperature. Sensors measure air pressure, internal and external temperature and pass the information on to the control unit. The control unit can then optimally determine the fuel quantity and ignition timing based on the values obtained. As a result, fuel metering is ensured by opening and closing the valve. This means that STIHL Injection stands for rapid acceleration with extremely high performance and low weight:

• The chain accelerates from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in 0.25 seconds.
• The MS 500i achieves the best power-to-weight ratio on the market: an unparalleled 1.24 kg/kW.

The electronically controlled injection takes place in the proven STIHL 2-MIX engine, which offers high performance with low consumption. To protect muscles and joints, the petrol chainsaw features the STIHL ElastoStart. The HD2 air filter, the captive nuts on the sprocket cover, the controlled-delivery oil pump, the tool-free fuel cap and the lateral chain tensioning complete the top-class equipment.
